 Supreme Court Has Allowed A 14 Year Old Rape Survivor To Undergo Abortion!!

The Supreme Court on Monday permitted 14 year old rape survivor to undergo medical termination of her almost 30 week pregnancy.

The Supreme Court has utilized its authority under article 142 of the Constitution , which provides it power to issue any necessary order to ensure complete justice in any case. It has directed the dean of the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital [LTMGH] in Sion, Mumbai, to promptly assemble a team of doctors to carry out the termination of the pregnancy.

The Top Court quashed Bombay High Court order declining the plea for medical termination of pregnancy of minor rape survivor.

The Supreme Court on April 19, ordered a medical examination of the minor , seeking a report from Mumbai's Sion Hospital regarding the potential physical and psychological consequences for the girl if she undergoes medical termination of pregnancy or if she is advised against it.
